Grafana Labs ships one open-source store per signal: Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, Mimir for metrics and Pyroscope for continuous profiling, all visualised in Grafana. Each accepts OTLP and keeps data in cheap object storage. Grafana Cloud offers the same stack as a managed service.
Best for
Platform teams who want an open, composable stack.
Strengths
- +Object-storage economics at large scale
- +Signals linked in one UI (exemplars, trace-to-logs)
- +Self-host or use Grafana Cloud
Consider
- −Four systems to run and tune when self-hosting
- −Loki indexes labels, not full text — design labels carefully
